On October 1st 2012, something BIG, something that never happened before, happened in this remote village of Haiti named Fauge. Never before has a school like this one been open in this area. Better yet, never before has a school like this been open to provide FREE access to education to the children of Fauge and its surrounding villages in an attempt to try to lift them out of poverty for good. What a relief for parents, what a joy and a relief for the children who would not have been able to go to school this year, not because they do not like school, but simply because their parents could not afford to send them to school. What a HOPE for a brighter future! When you look at the face of these precious children depicted below for whom we are trying to raise support, I hope you understand that they too want the opportunity to walk through the doors that lead to the road that can lift them out of poverty, EDUCATION. That is why we are striving with the limited resources that we have to give these precious children the opportunity to have FREE access to education at a well equipped school. You can help us do that. See pictures in the slide show above.
The school opened its doors on October 1st with only 36 of the 200 students that are registered, partly because some of them could not get their uniforms ready, but more importantly because many could not believe that a FREE school could exist in their community, so they did not show up for school the first day. But the next day and the days after, they showed up by the bus loads so to speak.
A staff from Torch of Hope out of Atlanta was there to see this great day come to pass. Along with our staff from Torch of Hope, we had a small but powerful delegation from Ohio State University (OSU) with the Haiti Empowerment Project that traveled to Fauge with us. Dr. Terry Bucci and Mr. Pierre Lucien from OSU along with IEBCF’s very own principal, a man who has been serving as a head Inspector for the Ministry of Education for almost 20 year, Mr.. Brillere Milome, conducted an excellent training session for our 6 new teachers and our 3 administrative staff to train the entire staff to the same standards and set the high expectations they will all have to meet.
While we started with 36 students on October 1st 2012, the school is now meeting regularly with 191 students on a daily basis. Even with morning and afternoon class sessions, we have already outgrown our 3 classroom facility and are already in desperate need to build an additional 5 classrooms to house the students we have today and the new classes that will start next year. If you, someone you know, or an organization you know, perhaps your church, can step in the gap with us to help give the kids in these villages a better future and lift them out of abject poverty, please contact us right away, Torch of Hope Foundation at 770 – 990 – 8793 or Torchofhope_Haiti.org.

Each child portrayed on the right is already attending our school and they just need your support to help us cover the expenses to provide them with an opportunity to stay in school and not end up on the street. Close to 200 kids are currently attending the school, but we currently have 110 pictured here with just a few that have been sponsored already. So, we need sponsors for these children to help cover their expense. All you have to do is select the child that you want to sponsor, and send us an e-mail with your phone number and e-mail address along with the ID number assigned to the child/children you want to sponsor. You can e-mail us at Torchofhope_Haiti@yahoo.com. Please help us. More children will be posted soon for your sponsorship consideration.

In October of 2009, 3 members of our team went to Haiti to survey the Fauge area and to determine the best way to implement this project. Our team confirms the need for a school in the area along with other opportunities for an overall community development project to include a sport complex, a vocational school and a clinic in the future. Below are some pictures our team captured during their October 2009 trip.
Updateson the Land Purchase – April 2011
In October of 2010, our president went to Haiti, met with one of our supporting local team members in Haiti and traveled to the Fauge area to complete the purchase of the a portion of the land that we need to build the school . This is a very big step forward for this project as it places us one step closer to starting the construction of the school building. We are still in need of purchasing additional land because the land we currently have will not be enough to house the school facility in the long run. However, this purchase allows us to get the wheels in motion and to begin the planning for phase 1 of the construction project of the school.
As we seek to complete phase 1 of the construction project by the end of August 2011 to ensure that the school is ready to begin operation for the new school year beginning in September 2011, we are seeking to raise an additional $30,000.00 to supplement the contribution of our founder and board members. Phase 1 of the construction project consist of building 3 classrooms to house the first 3 school grades, 1 administrative office and 1 small storage building to store school equipment, materials and supplies and to house someone to maintain the school property. We know that this school will make a significant difference in the life of the students and the community in the Fauge area, so we hope that you will be able and willing to help us bring hope to the life of these people and their community. Our short term needs are listed below. Please visit our project page for a list of our long term needs.
If you wish to make a donation, you may send it to TOH Foundation , P.O Box 881 Stockbridge GA, 30281. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTABLE.
