June 21st 2013, a Big Milestone for Torch of Hope. What a Blessing!
The school year that started on October 1st 2012 with the opening of IEBC to provide access to quality free education to the children of Fauge came to an end on June 21st 2013 with a blast. For the first time in their life time, 200 children had the opportunity to seat in a decent class room and receive quality education at no cost to their parents who can’t even afford to feed many of them let alone send them to school. We are very grateful to God for providing the funds necessary for us to pay our teachers on time every month and to keep the school running. We are blessed with some motivated and passionate teachers who desire to help us give these children a chance at a better future and we praise God for that.
Where has the summer gone? It is as if the skipped right pass us because in just a few days, our students will be back on the benches for the 2013 – 2014 school year. School is scheduled to open on September 2nd this year, and with that we are hard at work once again to come up with the resources necessary to invest into the future of the over 250 students that we expect to have this year. With 2 additional teachers to pay and one assistant principal, our financial needs just got bigger. We need an additional $400.00 per months to cover the payment for the additional staff that is needed for the proper functioning of the school. Our work in Fauge is changing lives not only for this life but the life to come as our children are exposed to the Gospel every day. When you contribute to our work in Fauge, you help us to impact lives for eternity.
Torch of Hope does not only invest in education, but we focus on developing the entire person. God has given us IEBCF our school as platform to use to reach people for his kingdom. In addition to sharing the gospel with the local people, providing them with short and long term employment through our school and our construction projects, this past June, thanks to a sponsorship by Eagle’s Landing First Baptist church, we were able to hire local doctors and nurses in addition to our Dominican doctor friend who provided free medical examination and medication to over 200 children, some parents and our staff. Many parents were greatly relieved because they received treatment and medications for their sick children. We thank Eagle’s Landing First Baptist church for helping us impact Fauge with the love of Christ.
Torch of Hope is about community development. We want to impact lives for the glory of God. We welcome those whom God has empowered to make a difference in the world to join force with us to impact this corner of the world for the kingdom of God.
